Hi There! I'm Dianne, mother to Wyatt, health and wellness enthusiast, entrepreneur, and sole proprietor of Primal Nosh, a local meal prep company based out of Pensacola, FL. I have a masters degree in Psychology and am a Precision Nutrition certified coach and a certified Primal Health Coach. Over the course of the last 5 years, I've grown a successful business while raising a child, dialing in on my health, and expanding my knowledge of health and wellness. |
Nutrition and wellness haven’t always been my way. In my early twenties, Whataburger and Kraft Mac and Cheese was a way of life. I lived off Coca-Cola and I’m pretty sure water was just the thing I bathed with. Growing up I had always been thin. In my late teens I could eat anything and as much of it as I wanted and still remained rail thin. When I was 19 I was diagnosed with Graves' disease, a thyroid disease that causes the thyroid to be overactive (hence why I could eat all the food and was still underweight). I was treated with Radioactive Iodine which rendered my thyroid useless. I've been on thyroid supplemental hormone ever since. After receiving the treatment, I began to gain weight. My thyroid medication was dosed correctly but now that my body was working normally, I could no longer eat the way I used to without gaining weight. In addition to that, as I was pushing mid-twenties, I was really starting to feel the other negative health effects of a crappy diet. I began suffering from fatigue and serious brain fog, and had heartburn so bad it would wake me up in excruciating pain in the middle of the night which led to my being put on medication I was told I would have to be on for the rest of my life (spoiler alert, I haven’t taken that medication in years). At this point, I was fresh into graduate school and I didn’t have the time to deal with these issues, nor did I want to hate my body anymore. I knew something had to change.
I took up running, which I don’t particularly like, but it was the only thing I knew to do at the time because I was completely lost in the gym. I also started eating what I thought were “healthy” foods – fiber one bars, limited fat, juice, etc. Luckily, soon after beginning this journey a friend of mine introduced me to CrossFit. Not only did this offer me a way out of running with programmed workouts that were instructed by a coach, I also quickly learned of lifestyle called “Paleo” and realized that the “healthy” way I had been eating was oh-so-wrong. Now, at this point in my life I follow more of a relaxed, Primal style diet, but I must thank the Paleo movement for where I am today. Since Paleo restricted a lot of foods I thought were healthy and since I am the type of person who must know 'why' for EV-ER-Y-THING, naturally I wanted to know why I couldn't eat beans. Why are grains “bad”? Why shouldn't I eat dairy?
While researching all my whys, I fell in love with the way the body works and the way the things we put into (and even onto) our bodies impacts us. This led into a deeper spiral of research and a passion I never would have imagined I'd have for health, wellness, and nutrition. Since I first stepped into a CrossFit gym in early 2013, I have focused on learning as much as I possibly can about the way the body works - how food, sleep, mindset, movement, stress relief, and so much more, play a factor in our health. I have also cleared my brain fog, quit the antacid medication I had been prescribed to for life, found the root cause of my exhaustion, have the constant energy I need, and fell in love with my body. It is now my mission to take my knowledge and help YOU become the best version of yourself. If you’re ready to get started, head on over to my coaching page or shoot me a message!
One of the most important things I've learned through my journey is that it doesn't matter what you know or what amazing tips and tricks you have if you can't get your head straight about what you're trying to accomplish. Mindset is key to making lasting change. My goal as a coach is to help you find the negative beliefs and the stories you hold onto that prevent you from reaching your goal and shift them so that you always have the tools to keep yourself on track or bring yourself back when life gets in the way.
